This is what the Lord says: Stand by the roadways and look. Ask about the ancient paths: Which is the way to what is good? Then take it and find rest for yourselves. But they protested,“ We won’t!”

All these were approved through their faith, but they did not receive what was promised,

And he received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while still uncircumcised. This was to make him the father of all who believe but are not circumcised, so that righteousness may be credited to them also.And he became the father of the circumcised, who are not only circumcised but who also follow in the footsteps of the faith our father Abraham had while he was still uncircumcised.

They worship Me in vain, teaching as doctrines the commands of men.Disregarding the command of God, you keep the tradition of men.”He also said to them,“ You completely invalidate God’s command in order to maintain your tradition!For Moses said: Honor your father and your mother; and Whoever speaks evil of father or mother must be put to death.But you say,‘ If a man tells his father or mother: Whatever benefit you might have received from me is Corban’”( that is, a gift committed to the temple),“ you no longer let him do anything for his father or mother.You revoke God’s word by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many other similar things.”

Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.For our ancestors won God’s approval by it.
