Jesus responded,“ Do wedding guests fast while celebrating with the groom? Of course not.

耶穌對他們說：『新郎跟賀喜的朋友在一起的時候，你們哪能叫他們禁食呢？

耶穌曰、新娶者在、安能使賀娶者禁食乎、

耶穌曰、新娶者在、安能使賀娶之人禁食乎、

耶穌曰、新娶者尚在、安能使賀娶之客禁食乎、

耶穌曰：『新壻尚在、安能令新壻之友守齋乎？

Jesus answered,“ Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast while he is with them?

And Jesus said to them,“ Can you make wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them?

Jesus said to them,“ You can’t make the wedding guests fast while the groom is with them, can you?

And Jesus said to them,“ You cannot make the attendants of the groom fast while the groom is with them, can you?

And He said to them,“ Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them?

And Jesus said unto them, Can ye make the sons of the bride- chamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?

Jesus said to them,“ You can’t make the wedding guests fast while the groom is with them, can you?

And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?

So Jesus said to them,“ You cannot make the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them, can you?

He said to them,“ Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them?

It is the bridegroom who marries the bride, and the bridegroom’s friend is simply glad to stand with him and hear his vows. Therefore, I am filled with joy at his success.

For your Creator will be your husband; the Lord of Heaven’s Armies is his name! He is your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, the God of all the earth.

His left arm is under my head, and his right arm embraces me.Promise me, O women of Jerusalem, by the gazelles and wild deer, not to awaken love until the time is right.

Your children will commit themselves to you, O Jerusalem, just as a young man commits himself to his bride. Then God will rejoice over you as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride.

For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”

Listen to me, O royal daughter; take to heart what I say. Forget your people and your family far away.For your royal husband delights in your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.The princess of Tyre will shower you with gifts. The wealthy will beg your favor.The bride, a princess, looks glorious in her golden gown.In her beautiful robes, she is led to the king, accompanied by her bridesmaids.What a joyful and enthusiastic procession as they enter the king’s palace!Your sons will become kings like their father. You will make them rulers over many lands.

For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church.
