But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples,“ Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”

于是他们大大地喧嚷起来。有些法利赛派的经文士们站起来激烈地争辩，说：“我们查不出这个人有什么错。也许有灵或天使对他说过话呢！”

那邀请耶稣的法利赛人看见了，心里说：“这个人如果是先知，就会知道摸他的是谁，是个什么样的女人，因为她是个罪人。”

原来，法利赛人和所有的犹太人都拘守古人的传统：如果不按规矩洗手就不吃饭；

他们说：‘你就站在那里，不要接近我，因为我比你圣洁。’这些就是我鼻孔中的烟，是终日燃烧的火。

那些经文士和法利赛人就开始想：“这个人是谁？竟说亵渎的话。除了神一位之外，谁能赦免罪呢？”

大家看见，就抱怨说：“他竟然到一个罪人家里去借宿。”

那法利赛人站着，向自己祷告这些话：‘神哪，我感谢你，因为我不像其他人那样：勒索、不义、通奸，也不像这个税吏。

就在那些日子里，有一天耶稣在教导人的时候，也有些法利赛人和律法教师坐在那里，他们是从加利利和犹太地区的各村庄，以及耶路撒冷来的。主的大能与耶稣同在，使他能医病。

“这件事你们怎么看？一个人有两个儿子，他前来对大儿子说：‘孩子，你今天到葡萄园去做工吧。’“大儿子回答说：‘我不愿意去。’可是后来他悔改，就去了。父亲前来对小儿子也说同样的话。“小儿子回答说：‘主啊，我去。’可是他没有去。“这两个儿子中，哪一个遵行父亲的意愿呢？”他们回答说：“大儿子。”耶稣说：“我确实地告诉你们：税吏和妓女要在你们的前面进神的国，因为约翰来到你们这里指明义的道路，你们不相信他，而那些税吏和妓女们却相信了他。你们虽然看见了，后来还是没有悔改去相信他。

当时，税吏和罪人都接近耶稣，听他讲说。法利赛人和经文士抱怨，说：“这个人欢迎罪人，又与他们一起吃饭。”

所有已经受过约翰洗礼的民众和税吏，听了这话，都承认神是义的；而没有受过他洗礼的法利赛人和律法师们，就弃绝了神对他们的计划。

人子来了，也吃也喝，你们就说：‘看，这个贪食好酒的人！税吏和罪人的朋友！’
