But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,Why doth this man thus speak? he blasphemeth: who can forgive sins but one, even God?

I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

And it came to pass on one of those days, that he was teaching; and there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, who were come out of every village of Galilee and Judæa and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was with him to heal.

And behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.

and set two men, base fellows, before him, and let them bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst curse God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him to death.And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who dwelt in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them, according as it was written in the letters which she had sent unto them.They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people.And the two men, the base fellows, came in and sat before him: and the base fellows bare witness against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did curse God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him to death with stones.Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, Naboth is stoned, and is dead.

Let them be as chaff before the wind, And the angel of Jehovah driving them on.

And he that blasphemeth the name of Jehovah, he shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the sojourner, as the home- born, when he blasphemeth the name of Jehovah, shall be put to death.

Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth;

He will again have compassion upon us; he will tread our iniquities under foot; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgiveness; for we have rebelled against him;
