到了傍晚，人們把許多有鬼魔附身的人帶到耶穌那裡。耶穌話語一出就把那些邪靈都趕了出去，並且使所有患病的人痊癒了。這樣，那藉著先知以賽亞所說的話就應驗了：「他親自代替了我們的軟弱，擔當了我們的疾病。」

甚至有人把保羅身上的手巾和圍裙拿去，放在病人身上，疾病就從他們身上消退了，邪靈也出去了。

耶穌聽了這事，就上船離開那裡，獨自到一個荒僻的地方去。眾人聽到了，就從各城鎮徒步來跟隨他。

人們跑遍那整個地區，聽到耶穌在哪裡，就把有病的人用墊子抬到哪裡。無論耶穌進到哪裡，或村莊、或城鎮、或鄉下，人們就把病人放在街市上，懇求耶穌只要讓他們摸一下他的衣服穗子。凡是摸著的人，都得了救治。

因為他使許多人痊癒，所以有病痛的人都向他擠過來，想要摸到他。

所以，耶穌無法在那裡行什麼神蹟，只是按手在幾個病人身上，使他們痊癒。

就在那時候，耶穌治癒了許多有疾病的、有苦痛的、被邪靈附著的人，又施恩給許多瞎眼的使他們能看見。於是耶穌回答那兩個人，說：「你們去把所看見、所聽見的告訴約翰，就是：瞎眼的得以看見，瘸腿的行走，痲瘋病人被潔淨，耳聾的聽見，死人得以復活，窮人得以聽到福音。凡不因我被絆倒的人，就蒙福了。」

就是：瞎眼的得以看見，瘸腿的行走，痲瘋病人被潔淨，耳聾的聽見，死人得以復活，窮人得以聽到福音。

人們甚至把病人抬到大街上來，放在床榻上或墊子上，為要在彼得走過來的時候，至少他的影子可以落在一些人身上。

耶穌走遍全加利利，在他們的會堂裡教導人，傳天國的福音，並且使民中各樣的疾病和各樣的症狀痊癒。他的消息就在全敘利亞省傳開了。人們把所有的病人，就是患各種疾病的、受疼痛折磨的、有鬼魔附身的、癲癇的、癱瘓的，都帶到耶穌那裡。耶穌就使他們痊癒。
