他們一出會堂，就同雅各約翰到西門安得烈家裏。西門的岳母正害熱病躺臥着；人隨即對耶穌說起她的事。耶穌就上前去，握着她的手，使她起來，熱病就離開她；她便服事他們。

耶穌到了彼得家裏，看見他的岳母躺着，害了熱病；耶穌把她的手一摸，熱就退了；她便起來，服事耶穌。

難道我們沒有權利帶着信主的姊妹為妻、出入往來、像其餘的使徒與主的弟兄和磯法一樣麼？

你們中間有患病的麼？他應該請教會的長老來，讓他們奉主的名用油抹他，為他禱告。有信心的祈禱必救治衰弱病人；主必使他起來；他若犯了罪，也必蒙赦免。

就是如今，我也知道，凡你向上帝求的，上帝必給你。』

她姊妹兩個就差遣人去見耶穌說：『主啊，請看，你所愛的人病了。』

他聽見耶穌的事，就差遣猶太人幾個長老來見耶穌，求耶穌去救治他的僕人。他們到了耶穌那裏。就急切地求他說：『你給他行這事，他很配得起；

耶穌一句話也不回答她。門徒上前來，求耶穌說：『請打發她走吧，因為她在我們後頭喊叫呢。』
