眾皆愕然相顧曰：『斯何道歟？言具威權、諭魔即出。』

All the people were amazed and said to each other,“ What words these are! With authority and power he gives orders to impure spirits and they come out!”

And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;they will pick up snakes; if they should drink anything deadly, it will not harm them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will get well.”So the Lord Jesus, after speaking to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word by the accompanying signs.]

The seventy-two returned with joy, saying,“ Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”He said to them,“ I watched Satan fall from heaven like lightning.Look, I have given you the authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy; nothing at all will harm you.However, don’t rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

They were extremely astonished and said,“ He has done everything well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”

so that even facecloths or aprons that had touched his skin were brought to the sick, and the diseases left them, and the evil spirits came out of them.Now some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists also attempted to pronounce the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying,“ I command you by the Jesus that Paul preaches!”Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish high priest, were doing this.The evil spirit answered them,“ I know Jesus, and I recognize Paul— but who are you?”Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them, overpowered them all, and prevailed against them, so that they ran out of that house naked and wounded.
