喊着說：『以色列人哪，援助吧！這個人就是在各處教訓眾人反對我們的人民、我們的律法和這聖地的。不但如此，他竟帶了希利尼人進殿，使這聖地俗污呢！』原來他們已先看見以弗所人特羅非摩同保羅在城裏，就以為保羅帶他進了殿。全城都搖動了，民眾一齊跑來，拉住保羅，拖他出殿，所有的門立刻關起來。他們正想法子要殺他的時候，就有話傳上去、到營部的千夫長那裏，說全耶路撒冷都紛亂了。千夫長登時帶兵和幾個百夫長，跑下去到他們那裏。他們看見千夫長和士兵，就停止不擊打保羅。

我若沒有在他們中間行過別人所沒有行過的事，他們就沒有罪；如今呢、連我與我的父、他們都看見了，也都恨惡了。不過，這是要應驗他們律法書上所寫的話說：「他們無緣無故地恨我」。

於是永恆主告訴摩西說：『那人必須被處死；全會眾要在營外扔石頭把他砍死。』

『我知道你們是亞伯拉罕的後裔；然而你們還想法子要殺我，因為我的道在你們裏面沒有地位。

惡人拔刀拉弓，要打倒困苦貧窮的人，要屠宰行徑正直的人；

所以耶穌也是這樣：耶穌為要藉自己的血叫人民成聖，就在城外受苦。

他們就大聲喊叫，摀着耳朵，同心合意地向他衝上去，給趕出城外，直扔石頭打。見證人把衣裳脫在一個叫掃羅的壯年人腳旁。

鞭打了許多棍，便將他們下在監裏，囑咐看監獄的妥妥當當地看守着。看監獄的領了這樣的囑咐，便將他們下在內監，把他們的兩腳妥妥當當地上了木狗。

猶大人又生擒了一萬人，帶到巖石頂上，從巖石頂上扔下去，以致他們身體都破裂了。
