這婦人是希臘人，屬敘利亞的腓尼基族。她求耶穌從她女兒身上趕出那鬼。耶穌對她說：「讓孩子們先吃飽，拿孩子的餅丟給小狗吃是不妥的。」婦人回答：「主啊，桌子底下的小狗也吃小孩子的碎屑呀！」耶穌對她說：「憑着這句話，你回去吧，鬼已經離開你的女兒了。」

照自己在基督裏所立定的美意，使我們知道他旨意的奧祕，

因他對摩西說：「我要憐憫誰就憐憫誰，要恩待誰就恩待誰。」

我們也在他裏面得了基業；這原是那位隨己意行萬事的上帝照着自己的旨意所預定的，

你這個人哪，你是誰，竟敢向上帝頂嘴呢？受造之物豈會對造他的說：「你為甚麼把我造成這樣呢？」
