心裡有智慧的，被稱為有悟性的人；嘴唇的甘甜，使人增添學問。

他來到自己的家鄉，在他們的會堂裡教導人，以致他們驚嘆不已，說：「這個人的這種智慧和能力是從哪裡來的呢？這不就是那木匠的兒子嗎？他的母親不是叫瑪麗亞嗎？他的弟弟們不是雅各、約西、西門和猶大嗎？他的妹妹們不是都和我們在一起的嗎？那麼，他這一切是從哪裡來的呢？」

你比世人更美，恩惠澆灌在你的嘴唇上，因此神祝福你，直到永遠。

主耶和華賜給了我門徒的口舌，使我知道怎樣用話語扶助疲乏的人。他每天清晨喚醒我，喚醒我的耳朵，使我能像門徒那樣地聽。

到了安息日，他開始在會堂裡教導人。許多人聽了就驚嘆不已，說：「這個人從哪裡得來這些呢？賜給這個人的到底是什麼樣的智慧？藉著他的手所行出來的到底是怎麼樣的神蹟？這不就是那木匠嗎？不就是瑪麗亞的兒子，雅各、約西、猶大和西門的哥哥嗎？他的妹妹們不也和我們在這裡嗎？」這樣，他們就對耶穌很反感。

要用無可指責的健全話語，使反對的人在我們的事上因沒有壞話可說，就感到羞愧。

傳道者竭力尋求可喜悅的話語，寫下正直的真理之言。智慧人的話語如同刺棒，編集者的語錄像釘牢的釘子，都是那一位牧者所賜的。

但司提反以智慧和聖靈說話，他們就抵擋不住。

差役們回答：「從來沒有人像這個人那樣講話！」

話說得合宜，就如金蘋果鑲在銀器上。

所有聽他講說的人，都對他的悟性和對答十分驚訝。

因為我將賜給你們口才和智慧，是所有反對你們的人都不能抵擋、不能駁倒的。

義人的嘴，知道說合宜的話；惡人的口，只會說荒謬的事。

為真理、謙卑和公義的緣故，帶著你的威嚴乘勝前進！願你的右手向你顯明可畏的事！
