他們說：“這不是約瑟的兒子耶穌嗎？他的父母我們不都認識嗎？他現在怎麼說‘我是從天上降下來的’呢？”

心中有智慧的必稱為聰明人；動聽的話能增加說服力。

他回到自己的家鄉，在會堂裡教導人，眾人都驚奇，說：“這個人的智慧和能力是從哪裡來的呢？他不是木匠的兒子嗎？他母親不是馬利亞，他弟弟不是雅各、約瑟、西門和猶大嗎？他妹妹不是都在我們這裡嗎？他這一切是從哪裡來的呢？”

你比世人都美好；你的嘴唇吐出恩言；因此，神賜福給你，直到永遠。

主耶和華賜給了我一個受教者的舌頭，使我知道怎樣用言語扶助疲乏的人；主每天清晨喚醒我，他每天清晨喚醒我的耳朵，使我能像受教者一樣靜聽。

到了安息日，他開始在會堂裡教導人；很多人聽見了，都驚奇地說：“這個人從哪裡得來這一切呢？所賜給他的是怎麼樣的智慧，竟然藉著他的手行出這樣的神蹟？這不是那木匠嗎？不是馬利亞的兒子，雅各、約西、猶大、西門的哥哥嗎？他的妹妹們不也在我們這裡嗎？”他們就厭棄耶穌。

言詞要純正，無可指摘，使反對的人因為無從毀謗，就自覺慚愧。

傳道者搜尋可喜悅的話，正確地寫下真理。智慧人的言語像刺棒，他們所彙集的箴言像釘牢的釘子，都是一位牧者所賜的。

但司提反靠著聖靈和智慧說話，他們就抵擋不住。

差役回答：“從來沒有人像他這樣講話的！”

一句話說得合宜，就像金蘋果鑲在銀的器物上。

他的口甜蜜；他全然可愛。耶路撒冷的眾女子啊！這就是我的良人，我的朋友。

所有聽見他的人，都希奇他的聰明和應對。

因為我必賜給你們口才、智慧，是你們所有的敵人不能抵抗，也不能駁倒的。

義人的嘴使人喜悅，惡人的口說乖謬的話。

在你的威嚴中，為了真理、謙卑和公義的緣故，你勝利地乘車前進；願你的右手施行可畏的事。
