“ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed,

“ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free,

The Lord Yahweh’s Spirit is on me, because Yahweh has anointed me to preach good news to the humble. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and release to those who are bound,

the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.

who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry. Yahweh frees the prisoners.Yahweh opens the eyes of the blind. Yahweh raises up those who are bowed down. Yahweh loves the righteous.

even Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

Jesus answered them,“ Go and tell John the things which you have seen and heard: that the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.

to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

to open the blind eyes, to bring the prisoners out of the dungeon, and those who sit in darkness out of the prison.

I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in the darkness.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love,

Again, I write a new commandment to you, which is true in him and in you; because the darkness is passing away and the true light already shines.He who says he is in the light and hates his brother is in the darkness even until now.He who loves his brother remains in the light, and there is no occasion for stumbling in him.

In that day, the deaf will hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind will see out of obscurity and out of darkness.The humble also will increase their joy in Yahweh, and the poor among men will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

The eyes of those who see will not be dim, and the ears of those who hear will listen.

the people who sat in darkness saw a great light, to those who sat in the region and shadow of death, to them light has dawned.”

I will bring the blind by a way that they don’t know. I will lead them in paths that they don’t know. I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. I will do these things, and I will not forsake them.“ Those who trust in engraved images, who tell molten images,‘ You are our gods,’ will be turned back. They will be utterly disappointed.“ Hear, you deaf, and look, you blind, that you may see.

He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.

As Jesus passed by from there, two blind men followed him, calling out and saying,“ Have mercy on us, son of David!”When he had come into the house, the blind men came to him. Jesus said to them,“ Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They told him,“ Yes, Lord.”Then he touched their eyes, saying,“ According to your faith be it done to you.”Their eyes were opened. Jesus strictly commanded them, saying,“ See that no one knows about this.”

You are all children of light and children of the day. We don’t belong to the night, nor to darkness,so then let’s not sleep, as the rest do, but let’s watch and be sober.

Then the eyes of the blind will be opened, and the ears of the deaf will be unstopped.

saying to those who are bound,‘ Come out!’; to those who are in darkness,‘ Show yourselves!’“ They shall feed along the paths, and their pasture shall be on all treeless heights.

He lifted up his eyes to his disciples, and said,“ Blessed are you who are poor, God’s Kingdom is yours.

For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for God gives the Spirit without measure.

He first found his own brother, Simon, and said to him,“ We have found the Messiah!”( which is, being interpreted, Christ).

“ Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.

Listen, my beloved brothers. Didn’t God choose those who are poor in this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the Kingdom which he promised to those who love him?

Shall the plunder be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captives be delivered?But Yahweh says,“ Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the plunder retrieved from the fierce, for I will contend with him who contends with you and I will save your children.

Shake yourself from the dust! Arise, sit up, Jerusalem! Release yourself from the bonds of your neck, captive daughter of Zion!For Yahweh says,“ You were sold for nothing; and you will be redeemed without money.”

Yahweh’s Spirit will rest on him: the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Yahweh.His delight will be in the fear of Yahweh. He will not judge by the sight of his eyes, neither decide by the hearing of his ears;but he will judge the poor with righteousness, and decide with equity for the humble of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips he will kill the wicked.Righteousness will be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his waist.

Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.

I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will make all his ways straight. He shall build my city, and he shall let my exiles go free, not for price nor reward,” says Yahweh of Armies.

As for you also, because of the blood of your covenant, I have set free your prisoners from the pit in which is no water.Turn to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope! Even today I declare that I will restore double to you.

For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth,proving what is well pleasing to the Lord.Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them.For it is a shame even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.But all things, when they are reproved, are revealed by the light, for everything that reveals is light.Therefore he says,“ Awake, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

“ Seventy weeks are decreed on your people and on your holy city, to finish disobedience, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy.

For my hand has made all these things, and so all these things came to be,” says Yahweh:“ but I will look to this man, even to he who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at my word.

The kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers take counsel together, against Yahweh, and against his Anointed, saying,

“ As for me, this is my covenant with them,” says Yahweh.“ My Spirit who is on you, and my words which I have put in your mouth shall not depart out of your mouth, nor out of the mouth of your offspring, nor out of the mouth of your offspring’s offspring,” says Yahweh,“ from now on and forever.”“ Arise, shine; for your light has come, and Yahweh’s glory has risen on you.For, behold, darkness will cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but Yahweh will arise on you, and his glory shall be seen on you.

But I will leave among you an afflicted and poor people, and they will take refuge in Yahweh’s name.

He won’t break a bruised reed. He won’t quench a smoking flax, until he leads justice to victory.

But to you who fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in its wings. You will go out, and leap like calves of the stall.

Jesus said,“ I came into this world for judgment, that those who don’t see may see; and that those who see may become blind.”Those of the Pharisees who were with him heard these things, and said to him,“ Are we also blind?”Jesus said to them,“ If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say,‘ We see.’ Therefore your sin remains.

“ Behold, my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights: I have put my Spirit on him. He will bring justice to the nations.He will not shout, nor raise his voice, nor cause it to be heard in the street.He won’t break a bruised reed. He won’t quench a dimly burning wick. He will faithfully bring justice.He will not fail nor be discouraged, until he has set justice in the earth, and the islands wait for his law.”

You have loved righteousness, and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. O God, you will not despise a broken and contrite heart.

“ For truly, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together against your holy servant, Jesus, whom you anointed,

I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will bruise your head, and you will bruise his heel.”

Yahweh said to him,“ Go through the middle of the city, through the middle of Jerusalem, and set a mark on the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry over all the abominations that are done within it.”

It was broken in that day; and thus the poor of the flock that listened to me knew that it was Yahweh’s word.

to hear the groans of the prisoner; to free those who are condemned to death;

“ Yet I have set my King on my holy hill of Zion.”

For the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy, says:“ I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also who is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite.

Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron,because they rebelled against the words of God, and condemned the counsel of the Most High.Therefore he brought down their heart with labor. They fell down, and there was no one to help.Then they cried to Yahweh in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke away their chains.Let them praise Yahweh for his loving kindness, for his wonderful deeds to the children of men!For he has broken the gates of bronze, and cut through bars of iron.

The Lord Yahweh has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with words him who is weary. He awakens morning by morning, he awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught.

because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before God, when you heard his words against this place, and against its inhabitants, and have humbled yourself before me, and have torn your clothes, and wept before me, I also have heard you,” says Yahweh.
