约瑟和马利亚照主的律法办完了一切的事，就回加利利，到自己的城拿撒勒去了。

当他十二岁的时候，他们按着过节的规矩上去。

他们到了一座城，名叫拿撒勒，就住在那里。这是要应验先知所说的话：“他将称为拿撒勒人。”

来到自己的家乡，在会堂里教导人，以致他们都很惊奇，说：“这人哪来这样的智慧和异能呢？这不是那木匠的儿子吗？他母亲不是叫马利亚吗？他兄弟们不是叫雅各、约瑟、西门、犹大吗？

耶稣回答他：“我一向都是公开地对世人讲话，我常在会堂和圣殿里，就是犹太人聚集的地方教导人，我私下并没有讲什么。

耶稣对他们说：“你们听见的这段经文，今天已经应验了。”

他在各会堂里教导人，众人都称赞他。

到了第六个月，天使加百列奉上帝的差遣往加利利的一座城去，这城名叫拿撒勒，到一个童女那里，她已经许配大卫家的一个人，名叫约瑟；童女的名字叫马利亚。
