On the Sabbath day they went into the synagogue and sat down.After the reading of the Law and the Prophets, the leaders of the synagogue sent word to them, saying,“ Brothers, if you have any word of encouragement for the people, you can speak.”Paul stood up and motioned with his hand and said,“ Fellow Israelites, and you who fear God, listen!

When they had completed everything according to the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth.

When he was twelve years old, they went up according to the custom of the festival.

Then he went and settled in a town called Nazareth to fulfill what was spoken through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene.

He went to his hometown and began to teach them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said,“ Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother called Mary, and his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas?

“ I have spoken openly to the world,” Jesus answered him.“ I have always taught in the synagogue and in the temple, where all the Jews gather, and I haven’t spoken anything in secret.

He began by saying to them,“ Today as you listen, this Scripture has been fulfilled.”

He was teaching in their synagogues, being praised by everyone.

In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth,to a virgin engaged to a man named Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.
