Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.When he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was hungry afterward.The tempter came and said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”But he answered,“ It is written,‘ Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’”Then the devil took him into the holy city. He set him on the pinnacle of the temple,and said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written,‘ He will command his angels concerning you.’ and,‘ On their hands they will bear you up, so that you don’t dash your foot against a stone.’”Jesus said to him,“ Again, it is written,‘ You shall not test the Lord, your God.’”Again, the devil took him to an exceedingly high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and their glory.He said to him,“ I will give you all of these things, if you will fall down and worship me.”Then Jesus said to him,“ Get behind me, Satan! For it is written,‘ You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only.’”Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and served him.

“ The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed,

Immediately the Spirit drove him out into the wilderness.He was there in the wilderness forty days tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals; and the angels were serving him.

Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee, and news about him spread through all the surrounding area.

The Lord Yahweh’s Spirit is on me, because Yahweh has anointed me to preach good news to the humble. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and release to those who are bound,

But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree. Then he requested for himself that he might die, and said,“ It is enough. Now, O Yahweh, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.”

He came in the Spirit into the temple. When the parents brought in the child, Jesus, that they might do concerning him according to the custom of the law,

Yahweh’s Spirit will rest on him: the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Yahweh.His delight will be in the fear of Yahweh. He will not judge by the sight of his eyes, neither decide by the hearing of his ears;but he will judge the poor with righteousness, and decide with equity for the humble of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips he will kill the wicked.

For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for God gives the Spirit without measure.

So the Spirit lifted me up, and took me away; and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; and Yahweh’s hand was strong on me.

When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, and the eunuch didn’t see him any more, for he went on his way rejoicing.

Jesus, when he was baptized, went up directly from the water: and behold, the heavens were opened to him. He saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming on him.

Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus also had been baptized, and was praying. The sky was opened,and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form like a dove on him; and a voice came out of the sky, saying“ You are my beloved Son. In you I am well pleased.”

He came into all the region around the Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for remission of sins.

until the day in which he was received up, after he had given commandment through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen.

John testified, saying,“ I have seen the Spirit descending like a dove out of heaven, and it remained on him.

It will happen, as soon as I leave you, that Yahweh’s Spirit will carry you I don’t know where; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he can’t find you, he will kill me. But I, your servant, have feared Yahweh from my youth.
