Therefore produce fruits that are consistent with repentance, and do not start saying to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father,’ for I say to you that from these stones God is able to raise up children for Abraham.

宜結美果、用副悛悔之心。莫道有亞伯漢為我大父！蓋吾語爾、天主固能化此頑石為亞伯漢之後裔也。

Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.

Live in a way that shows you have turned away from your sins. And don’t start saying to yourselves,‘ Abraham is our father.’ I tell you, God can raise up children for Abraham even from these stones.

Bear fruits in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham.

Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Don’t just say to each other,‘ We’re safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.’ That means nothing, for I tell you, God can create children of Abraham from these very stones.

But when a wicked person turns away from his wickedness which he has committed and practices justice and righteousness, he will save his life.Since he understood and turned away from all his offenses which he had committed, he shall certainly live; he shall not die.But the house of Israel says,‘ The way of the Lord is not right.’ Are My ways not right, house of Israel? Is it not your ways that are not right?“ Therefore I will judge you, house of Israel, each according to his conduct,” declares the Lord God.“ Repent and turn away from all your offenses, so that wrongdoing does not become a stumbling block to you.Hurl away from you all your offenses which you have committed and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! For why should you die, house of Israel?

but continually proclaimed to those in Damascus first, and in Jerusalem, and then all the region of Judea, and even to the Gentiles, that they are to repent and turn to God, performing deeds consistent with repentance.

“ Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Remove the evil of your deeds from My sight. Stop doing evil,Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor, Obtain justice for the orphan, Plead for the widow’s case.“ Come now, and let us debate your case,” Says the Lord,“ Though your sins are as scarlet, They shall become as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be like wool.

Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruit.

having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, for the glory and praise of God.

and command them, saying,‘ Take up for yourselves twelve stones from here out of the middle of the Jordan, from the place where the priests’ feet are standing firmly, and carry them over with you and lay them down in the encampment where you will spend the night.’ ”So Joshua called the twelve men whom he had appointed from the sons of Israel, one man from each tribe;and Joshua said to them,“ Cross again to the ark of the Lord your God into the middle of the Jordan, and each of you take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel.This shall be a sign among you; when your children ask later, saying,‘ What do these stones mean to you?’then you shall say to them,‘ That the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord; when it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off.’ So these stones shall become a memorial to the sons of Israel forever.”So the sons of Israel did exactly as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, just as the Lord spoke to Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel; and they carried them over with them to the encampment and put them down there.

For ground that drinks the rain which often falls on it and produces vegetation useful to those for whose sake it is also tilled, receives a blessing from God;but if it yields thorns and thistles, it is worthless and close to being cursed, and it ends up being burned.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,gentleness, self control; against such things there is no law.Now those who belong to Christ Jesus crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Jesus replied,“ I tell you, if these stop speaking, the stones will cry out!”

For this reason it is by faith, in order that it may be in accordance with grace, so that the promise will be guaranteed to all the descendants, not only to those who are of the Law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all,

They answered Him,“ We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been enslaved to anyone; how is it that You say,‘ You will become free’?”

For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death.For behold what earnestness this very thing, this godly sorrow, has produced in you: what vindication of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what punishment of wrong! In everything you demonstrated yourselves to be innocent in the matter.

And in Hades he raised his eyes, being in torment, and* saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his arms.And he cried out and said,‘ Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus, so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’But Abraham said,‘ Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony.And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set, so that those who want to go over from here to you will not be able, nor will any people cross over from there to us.’And he said,‘ Then I request of you, father, that you send him to my father’s house—for I have five brothers— in order that he may warn them, so that they will not come to this place of torment as well.’But Abraham* said,‘ They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’But he said,‘ No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!’But he said to him,‘ If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’ ”

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise.

In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being thrown out.And they will come from east and west, and from north and south, and will recline at the table in the kingdom of God.

nor are they all children because they are Abraham’s descendants, but:“ through Isaac your descendants shall be named.”

And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven;but the sons of the kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

They answered and said to Him,“ Abraham is our father.” Jesus* said to them,“ If you are Abraham’s children, do the deeds of Abraham.

“ Hear this, house of Jacob, who are named Israel And who came from the waters of Judah, Who swear by the name of the Lord And invoke the God of Israel, But not in truth nor in righteousness.For they name themselves after the holy city, And lean on the God of Israel; The Lord of armies is His name.

Do not trust in deceptive words, saying,‘ This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord.’For if you truly amend your ways and your deeds, if you truly practice justice between a person and his neighbor,if you do not oppress the stranger, the orphan, or the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, nor follow other gods to your own ruin,then I will let you live in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers forever and ever.“ Behold, you are trusting in deceptive words to no avail.Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, offer sacrifices to Baal, and follow other gods that you have not known,then come and stand before Me in this house which is called by My name, and say,‘ We are saved!’— so that you may do all these abominations?
