But if a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed and does what is just and right, he will preserve his life.He will certainly live because he thought it over and turned from all the transgressions he had committed; he will not die.But the house of Israel says,‘ The Lord’s way isn’t fair.’ Is it My ways that are unfair, house of Israel? Instead, isn’t it your ways that are unfair?“ Therefore, house of Israel, I will judge each one of you according to his ways.” This is the declaration of the Lord God.“ Repent and turn from all your transgressions, so they will not be a stumbling block that causes your punishment.Throw off all the transgressions you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. Why should you die, house of Israel?

Joshua 4:3-8
and command them: Take 12 stones from this place in the middle of the Jordan where the priests are standing, carry them with you, and set them down at the place where you spend the night.”So Joshua summoned the 12 men he had selected from the Israelites, one man for each tribe,and said to them,“ Go across to the ark of the Lord your God in the middle of the Jordan. Each of you lift a stone onto his shoulder, one for each of the Israelite tribes,so that this will be a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask you,‘ What do these stones mean to you?’you should tell them,‘ The waters of the Jordan were cut off in front of the ark of the Lord’s covenant. When it crossed the Jordan, the Jordan’s waters were cut off.’ Therefore these stones will always be a memorial for the Israelites.”The Israelites did just as Joshua had commanded them. The 12 men took stones from the middle of the Jordan, one for each of the Israelite tribes, just as the Lord had told Joshua. They carried them to the camp and set them down there.
