John spoke to the crowds coming to be baptized by him. He said,“ You are like a nest of poisonous snakes! Who warned you to escape the coming of God’s anger?

约翰对那些出来受他洗礼的人群说：“你们这些毒蛇的子孙！谁指示你们逃避那将要来临的震怒呢？

約翰對那出來要受他洗的眾人說：「毒蛇的種類！誰指示你們逃避將來的忿怒呢？

約翰對那出來要受他洗的眾人說：「毒蛇的孽種啊，誰指示你們逃避那將要來的憤怒呢？

約翰對前來接受他洗禮的人群說：「你們這些毒蛇的後代！誰指示你們逃避那將臨的烈怒呢？

約翰對那出來要受他洗禮的群眾說：“毒蛇所生的啊，誰指示你們逃避那將要來的忿怒呢？

所以約翰對那出來要受他洗的羣眾說：『毒蛇的種啊，誰指示你們逃避將來上帝的義怒呢？

約翰對那些出來受他洗禮的人群說：「你們這些毒蛇的子孫！誰指示你們逃避那將要來臨的震怒呢？

眾出受洗、約翰謂之曰、蝮類乎、誰示爾避將來之怒乎、

眾出受洗、約翰曰、蝮類乎、誰示爾避後日之刑乎、

有多人至、欲受洗於約翰、約翰語之曰、蝮類乎、誰示爾避將來之怒乎、

眾出受洗、如望謂之曰：『蝮類！誰警爾曹以避將臨之怒耶？

John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him,“ You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?

He said therefore to the crowds that came out to be baptized by him,“ You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

When the crowds came to John for baptism, he said,“ You brood of snakes! Who warned you to flee the coming wrath?

He then said to the crowds who came out to be baptized by him,“ Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?

So he was saying to the crowds who were going out to be baptized by him,“ You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

Then he said to the multitudes that came out to be baptized by him,“ Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

He said therefore to the multitudes that went out to be baptized of him, Ye offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

He then said to the crowds who came out to be baptized by him,“ Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?

Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

So John said to the crowds that came out to be baptized by him,“ You offspring of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?

He said therefore to the multitudes who went out to be baptized by him,“ You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

“ You nest of poisonous snakes! How will you escape from being sentenced to hell?

They tell about how you are waiting for his Son to come from heaven. God raised him from the dead. He is Jesus. He saves us from God’s anger, and his anger is sure to come.

You nest of poisonous snakes! How can you who are evil say anything good? Your mouths say everything that is in your hearts.

Their words are like the poison of a snake. They are like the poison of a cobra that has covered up its ears.It won’t listen to a snake charmer’s tune, even if the charmer plays very well.

The person who does what is sinful belongs to the devil. That’s because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the devil’s work.

I will make you and the woman hate each other. Your children and her children will be enemies. Her son will crush your head. And you will bite his heel.”

The plans they make are like the eggs of poisonous snakes. Anyone who eats those eggs will die. When one of them is broken, a snake comes out.

John saw many Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing. He said to them,“ You are like a nest of poisonous snakes! Who warned you to escape the coming of God’s anger?Live in a way that shows you have turned away from your sins.Don’t think you can say to yourselves,‘ Abraham is our father.’ I tell you, God can raise up children for Abraham even from these stones.The ax is ready to cut the roots of the trees. All the trees that don’t produce good fruit will be cut down. They will be thrown into the fire.

When God made his promise, he gave his word. He did this so we would have good reason not to give up. Instead, we have run to take hold of the hope set before us. This hope is set before us in God’s promise. So God made his promise and gave his word. These two things can’t change. He couldn’t lie about them.

You belong to your father, the devil. You want to obey your father’s wishes. From the beginning, the devil was a murderer. He has never obeyed the truth. There is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his natural language. He does this because he is a liar. He is the father of lies.

“ You are a child of the devil! You are an enemy of everything that is right! You cheat people. You use all kinds of tricks. Won’t you ever stop twisting the right ways of the Lord?
