惟汝嬰兒、必稱為至上者之先知、因爾將為主前驅、以備其路、示其民知拯救、即其罪之得赦、因我天主矜恤、使晨光自上臨我、以照居幽暗及死地陰翳之人、又引我履平康之道、○

彼來作證、即為光作證、使眾因之而信、

使以色列多人轉而歸主、即其天主、彼將以以利亞之神志才能、為主前驅、使為父者心慈其子、背逆者慕義人智慧、為主備歸誠之民、

此人乃先知以賽亞所指者曰、野有聲呼云、備主道、直其徑、

彼將使為父者心慈其子、為子者心孝其父、免我涖臨、行殲滅於地、

主命曰、爾當修理道途、平之平之、除諸窒礙於我民之路間、

爾曹當由門經行經行、為民備道、將路途修築修築、盡除其石、為列國樹纛、
