拿鶴活到二十九歲，生了他拉。拿鶴生他拉之後，又活了一百一十九年，這期間還生兒養女。他拉活到七十歲，生了亞伯蘭，拿鶴、哈蘭。以下這些人是他拉的後代。他拉生亞伯蘭、拿鶴、哈蘭；哈蘭生羅得。哈蘭死在他親族之地、迦勒底的吾珥，比他的父親先死。亞伯蘭和拿鶴各娶了妻：亞伯蘭的妻子名叫撒萊；拿鶴的妻子名叫密迦，是哈蘭的女兒；哈蘭是密迦和亦迦的父親。撒萊不生育，沒有孩子。他拉帶着他的兒子亞伯蘭、和他的孫子、哈蘭的兒子羅得、跟他兒媳婦亞伯蘭的妻子撒萊，領他們出了迦勒底人的吾珥，要往迦南地去；他們走到喀蘭，就住在那裏。他拉在世的日子共有二百零五年；他拉死在喀蘭。

閃，亞法撒，沙拉；希伯，法勒，拉吳；西鹿，拿鶴，他拉；亞伯蘭，亞伯蘭就是亞伯拉罕。亞伯拉罕的兒子是以撒、以實瑪利。

約書亞對眾民說：『永恆主以色列的上帝這麼說：古時你們的先祖、亞伯拉罕的父親、也就是拿鶴的父親、他拉，住在大河那邊；他們事奉別的神。

亞伯拉罕生以撒。以撒的兒子是以掃和以色列。
