At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him.And a voice from heaven said,“ This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.And a voice came from heaven:“ You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”

“ Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say?‘ Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour.Father, glorify your name!” Then a voice came from heaven,“ I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.”

About eight days after Jesus said this, he took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray.As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.

But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.

After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone,

Once when Jesus was praying in private and his disciples were with him, he asked them,“ Who do the crowds say I am?”
