He answered and said to them,“ He who has two tunics, let him give to him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise.”

John answered,“ Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.”

And he answered them,“ Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.”

John replied,“ If you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry.”

He replied to them,“ The one who has two shirts must share with someone who has none, and the one who has food must do the same.”

And he would answer and say to them,“ The one who has two tunics is to share with the one who has none; and the one who has food is to do likewise.”

Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh?Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; You shall cry, and He will say,‘ Here I am.’“ If you take away the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,If you extend your soul to the hungry And satisfy the afflicted soul, Then your light shall dawn in the darkness, And your darkness shall be as the noonday.The Lord will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.

But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?

Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share,

So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him,“ You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

Therefore, O king, let my advice be acceptable to you; break off your sins by being righteous, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor. Perhaps there may be a lengthening of your prosperity.”

If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food,and one of you says to them,“ Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.But someone will say,“ You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe— and tremble!But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect?And the Scripture was fulfilled which says,“ Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God.You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

And when he observed him, he was afraid, and said,“ What is it, Lord?” So he said to him,“ Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God.

a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always.

Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord,“ Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.”

Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

But rather give alms of such things as you have; then indeed all things are clean to you.

For some thought, because Judas had the money box, that Jesus had said to him,“ Buy those things we need for the feast,” or that he should give something to the poor.

For I bear witness that according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing,imploring us with much urgency that we would receive the gift and the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.And not only as we had hoped, but they first gave themselves to the Lord, and then to us by the will of God.So we urged Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also complete this grace in you as well.But as you abound in everything— in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all diligence, and in your love for us— see that you abound in this grace also.I speak not by commandment, but I am testing the sincerity of your love by the diligence of others.For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.And in this I give advice: It is to your advantage not only to be doing what you began and were desiring to do a year ago;but now you also must complete the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to desire it, so there also may be a completion out of what you have.For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have.For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened;but by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may supply their lack, that their abundance also may supply your lack— that there may be equality.

For it might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor.” And they criticized her sharply.But Jesus said,“ Let her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for Me.For you have the poor with you always, and whenever you wish you may do them good; but Me you do not have always.She has done what she could. She has come beforehand to anoint My body for burial.

And the King will answer and say to them,‘ Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

and said,‘ Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your alms are remembered in the sight of God.

For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
