那時，分封的王希律聽見耶穌的名聲，

希律和本丟‧彼拉多，外邦人和以色列民，果然在這城裏聚集，要攻打你所膏的聖僕耶穌，

分封的王希律聽見耶穌所做的一切事，就游移不定；因為有人說：「是約翰從死裏復活」；

圭必不離猶大，杖必不離他兩腳之間，直等細羅來到，萬民都必歸順。

先是希律為他兄弟腓力的妻子希羅底的緣故，差人去拿住約翰，鎖在監裏，因為希律已經娶了那婦人。

於是，王和巡撫並百妮基與同坐的人都起來，

彼拉多這才照他們所求的定案，

彼拉多一聽見，就問：「這人是加利利人嗎？」既曉得耶穌屬希律所管，就把他送到希律那裏去。那時希律正在耶路撒冷。希律看見耶穌，就很歡喜；因為聽見過他的事，久已想要見他，並且指望看他行一件神蹟，於是問他許多的話，耶穌卻一言不答。祭司長和文士都站着，極力地告他。希律和他的兵丁就藐視耶穌，戲弄他，給他穿上華麗衣服，把他送回彼拉多那裏去。

過了兩年，波求‧非斯都接了腓力斯的任；腓力斯要討猶太人的喜歡，就留保羅在監裏。

眾人都起來，把耶穌解到彼拉多面前，就告他說：「我們見這人誘惑國民，禁止納稅給凱撒，並說自己是基督，是王。」彼拉多問耶穌說：「你是猶太人的王嗎？」耶穌回答說：「你說的是。」彼拉多對祭司長和眾人說：「我查不出這人有甚麼罪來。」

大略說：「克勞第‧呂西亞，請巡撫腓力斯大人安。
