Jesus led his disciples out to the area near Bethany. Then he lifted up his hands and blessed them.

All these are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father said to them when he blessed them, giving each the blessing appropriate to him.

Now the law requires the descendants of Levi who become priests to collect a tenth from the people— that is, from their fellow Israelites— even though they also are descended from Abraham.This man, however, did not trace his descent from Levi, yet he collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises.And without doubt the lesser is blessed by the greater.

As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples,

Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High,and he blessed Abram, saying,“ Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth.And praise be to God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand.” Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.

“ They are the sons God has given me here,” Joseph said to his father. Then Israel said,“ Bring them to me so I may bless them.”

“ Tell Aaron and his sons,‘ This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them:“‘“ The Lord bless you and keep you;the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”’“ So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.”

And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.

Prepare me the kind of tasty food I like and bring it to me to eat, so that I may give you my blessing before I die.”
