and, being assembled together with them, he charged them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, said he, ye heard from me:

But the Comforter, even the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said unto you.

And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:and also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my Spirit.And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of Jehovah cometh.And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of Jehovah shall be delivered; for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those that escape, as Jehovah hath said, and among the remnant those whom Jehovah doth call.

And a Redeemer will come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith Jehovah.And as for me, this is my covenant with them, saith Jehovah: my Spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith Jehovah, from henceforth and for ever.

until the Spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness become a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be esteemed as a forest.

For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and streams upon the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:and they shall spring up among the grass, as willows by the watercourses.

But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall bear witness of me:

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may be with you for ever,even the Spirit of truth: whom the world cannot receive; for it beholdeth him not, neither knoweth him: ye know him; for he abideth with you, and shall be in you.

And when the day of Pentecost was now come, they were all together in one place.And suddenly there came from heaven a sound as of the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.And there appeared unto them tongues parting asunder, like as of fire; and it sat upon each one of them.And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.Now there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven.And when this sound was heard, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speaking in his own language.And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying, Behold, are not all these that speak Galilæans?And how hear we, every man in our own language wherein we were born?Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, in Judæa and Cappadocia, in Pontus and Asia,in Phrygia and Pamphylia, in Egypt and the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and sojourners from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,Cretans and Arabians, we hear them speaking in our tongues the mighty works of God.And they were all amazed, and were perplexed, saying one to another, What meaneth this?But others mocking said, They are filled with new wine.But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and spake forth unto them, saying, Ye men of Judæa, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and give ear unto my words.For these are not drunken, as ye suppose; seeing it is but the third hour of the day;but this is that which hath been spoken through the prophet Joel:And it shall be in the last days, saith God, I will pour forth of my Spirit upon all flesh: And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, And your young men shall see visions, And your old men shall dream dreams:Yea and on my servants and on my handmaidens in those days Will I pour forth of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy.And I will show wonders in the heaven above, And signs on the earth beneath; Blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke:The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the day of the Lord come, That great and notable day:And it shall be, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I go, I will send him unto you.And he, when he is come, will convict the world in respect of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:of sin, because they believe not on me;of righteousness, because I go to the Father, and ye behold me no more;of judgment, because the prince of this world hath been judged.I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he shall guide you into all the truth: for he shall not speak from himself; but what things soever he shall hear, these shall he speak: and he shall declare unto you the things that are to come.He shall glorify me: for he shall take of mine, and shall declare it unto you.All things whatsoever the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he taketh of mine, and shall declare it unto you.A little while, and ye behold me no more; and again a little while, and ye shall see me.
