安息日過後，七日的第一日，天快亮的時候，抹大拉的馬利亞和另一個馬利亞來看墳墓。忽然，地大震動；因為有主的一個使者從天上下來，把石頭滾開，坐在上面。他的相貌如同閃電，衣服潔白如雪。看守的人嚇得渾身顫抖，甚至和死人一樣。天使回應婦女說：「不要害怕！我知道你們是尋找那釘十字架的耶穌。他不在這裏，照他所說的，他已經復活了。你們來！看看安放他的地方。快去告訴他的門徒，說他已從死人中復活了，並且要比你們先到加利利去，在那裏你們會看見他。看哪！我已經告訴你們了。」婦女們急忙離開墳墓，又害怕，又大為歡喜，跑去告訴他的門徒。

還有曾被邪靈所附，被疾病所纏，而已經治好的幾個婦女，其中有稱為抹大拉的馬利亞，曾有七個鬼從她身上趕出來，又有希律的管家苦撒的妻子約亞拿，和蘇撒拿以及好些別的婦女，她們都是用自己的財物供給耶穌和使徒。

有好些婦女在那裏，遠遠地觀看，她們是從加利利跟隨耶穌，來服事他的；其中有抹大拉的馬利亞，又有雅各和約瑟的母親馬利亞，並有西庇太兩個兒子的母親。

過了安息日，抹大拉的馬利亞、雅各的母親馬利亞，和撒羅米，買了香料，要去膏耶穌的身體。七日的第一日清早，太陽出來後，她們來到墳墓那裏，彼此說：「誰要替我們把石頭從墓門滾開呢？」她們抬頭一看，看見石頭已經滾開了，原來那石頭很大。她們進了墳墓，看見一個年輕人坐在右邊，穿着白袍，就很驚奇。那年輕人對她們說：「不要驚慌！你們尋找那釘十字架的拿撒勒人耶穌，他已經復活了，不在這裏。來看安放他的地方。你們去，對他的門徒和彼得說：『他要比你們先到加利利去，在那裏你們會看見他，正如他從前所告訴你們的。』」於是她們出來，從墳墓那裏逃走，又發抖又驚訝，甚麼也沒有告訴人，因為她們害怕。〔9凡耶穌所吩咐的，她們簡潔地告訴彼得和他周圍的人。這些事以後，耶穌親自藉着他的門徒，從東到西，把那神聖、不朽、永遠拯救的福音傳出去。阿們！〕
