因耶穌名聲之顯揚、希律王聽見了。有人說：『是施洗的約翰從死人中活了起來，故此才有這些異能運行在他身上。』

當那時候、分封王希律聽見耶穌的名聲，

她對她主母說：『巴不得我主人就在撒瑪利亞的神言人面前呢！那麼他就能使主人復原、沒有痲瘋屬之病了。』於是乃縵進去、告訴他的主上說：『以色列地的女孩子這麼這麼說。』亞蘭王說：『你可以去；我還要寄信給以色列王呢。』於是乃縵帶着銀子十擔、金子六千錠、衣服十套、在手邊，就去了。他也帶着那信給以色列王；信上說：『這信到你那裏的時候，請注意，現在我打發我的臣僕乃縵去見你，是要叫你使他復原、沒有痲瘋屬之病。』

乃縵大大震怒走了，說：『我心裏自己說：「他一定出來見我，奉永恆主他的上帝的名站着呼求，在患處上頭動動手，使這痲瘋屬之病復原呢。」

說：『把這權柄也給我，使我無論給誰按手，誰就可以受聖靈。』

分封王希律聽見一切的事，心裏就很為難，因為有人說是約翰從死人中活了起來，有人說是以利亞顯現，還有人說是古時候一個神言人復起了。希律卻說，『約翰、我已經斬首了；這個人呢、我聽見他這樣的事的、到底是誰？』就想法子要見耶穌。

耶穌對他們說：『你們一定會引這句俗語對我說：「醫生啊，治好你自己吧！」「凡我們聽見你在迦伯農所行的事，你也該在這裏、在你的家鄉行啊！」』
