有一天，她对主母说：“要是我主人去见撒玛利亚的那位先知就好了！他一定能治好我主人的麻风病。”乃缦把这以色列少女的话告诉亚兰王。亚兰王说：“你去吧。我会写信给以色列王的。”于是，乃缦带了三百四十公斤银子、七十公斤金子和十套衣服，启程前往以色列。他带给以色列王的信上写着：“谨以此信介绍我的臣仆乃缦到你那里，你要医好他的麻风病。”

乃缦却怒冲冲地走了。他说：“我以为他一定会出来见我，为我站着求告他的上帝耶和华，用手在我的患处晃一晃，医好我的麻风病。

说：“请把这能力也给我吧，以便我把手按在谁身上，就使谁领受圣灵。”

耶稣的事迹很快便传到希律耳中，令他十分困惑，因为有人说：“约翰死而复活了”，有人说：“以利亚显现了”，还有人说：“古代的某个先知复活了”。希律说：“约翰已经被我斩首，这个行奇事的人到底是谁呢？”于是他想见耶稣。

耶稣对他们说：“你们肯定会把这句俗话用在我身上，说，‘医生啊，治好你自己吧！你在迦百农所行的一切，我们都听说了，也在你家乡行给我们看吧！’
