Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man,

And when even was now come, because it was the Preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,there came Joseph of Arimathæa, a councillor of honorable estate, who also himself was looking for the kingdom of God; and he boldly went in unto Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.And when he learned it of the centurion, he granted the corpse to Joseph.And he bought a linen cloth, and taking him down, wound him in the linen cloth, and laid him in a tomb which had been hewn out of a rock; and he rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid.

And they said, Cornelius a centurion, a righteous man and one that feareth God, and well reported of by all the nation of the Jews, was warned of God by a holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words from thee.

a devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, who gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always.

And when even was come, there came a rich man from Arimathæa, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus’ disciple:this man went to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded it to be given up.And Joseph took the body, and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb, and departed.And Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.

for he was a good man, and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.

And after these things Joseph of Arimathæa, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked of Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took away his body.And there came also Nicodemus, he who at the first came to him by night, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds.So they took the body of Jesus, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury.Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new tomb wherein was never man yet laid.There then because of the Jews’ Preparation( for the tomb was nigh at hand) they laid Jesus.

And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Spirit was upon him.
