Then Jesus shouted,“ Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!” And with those words he breathed his last.

耶穌揚聲呼曰：『聖父、敬將吾之神魂、託付於爾。』言畢遂絕。

Jesus called out with a loud voice,“ Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last.

As they stoned him, Stephen prayed,“ Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”

When Jesus had tasted it, he said,“ It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.

Then at three o’clock Jesus called out with a loud voice,“ Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means“ My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”Some of the bystanders misunderstood and thought he was calling for the prophet Elijah.One of them ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, holding it up to him on a reed stick so he could drink.“ Wait!” he said.“ Let’s see whether Elijah comes to take him down!”Then Jesus uttered another loud cry and breathed his last.And the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.When the Roman officer who stood facing him saw how he had died, he exclaimed,“ This man truly was the Son of God!”Some women were there, watching from a distance, including Mary Magdalene, Mary( the mother of James the younger and of Joseph), and Salome.They had been followers of Jesus and had cared for him while he was in Galilee. Many other women who had come with him to Jerusalem were also there.

The earth shook, rocks split apart,and tombs opened. The bodies of many godly men and women who had died were raised from the dead.They left the cemetery after Jesus’ resurrection, went into the holy city of Jerusalem, and appeared to many people.The Roman officer and the other soldiers at the crucifixion were terrified by the earthquake and all that had happened. They said,“ This man truly was the Son of God!”And many women who had come from Galilee with Jesus to care for him were watching from a distance.Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary( the mother of James and Joseph), and the mother of James and John, the sons of Zebedee.
