他們扔石頭打司提反的時候、司提反呼求說：『主耶穌啊，接納我的靈。』

耶穌受了酸酒，就說：『完成了！』便低下頭，把靈交付了。

他受辱罵，也不回罵，受苦也不說恐嚇的話，卻交託那按公義審判的主。

下午三點的時候，耶穌大聲呼喊說：『以羅伊，以羅伊，拉馬撒巴各大尼？』翻譯出來就是說：『我的上帝，我的上帝，你為甚麼撇棄我？』旁邊站着的人有的聽見了就說：『看哪，他呼叫以利亞呢。』有一個人跑去，把海絨蘸滿了酸酒，綁在葦子上、給他喝，說：『算了吧，看以利亞來把他取下來不。』耶穌大聲一叫，就斷了氣。殿堂裏的幔子、從上到下、裂為兩段。在他對面、旁邊站着的百夫長看見他這樣斷氣，就說：『真實地這個人是上帝的兒子啊！』還有婦女們從遠處觀看着；其中有抹大拉的馬利亞、小雅各和約瑟的母親馬利亞、和撒羅米；她們是耶穌在加利利時候跟着他服事他的人；另外還有許多跟他同上耶路撒冷的婦女。

約在下午三點的時候，耶穌大聲高呼說：『以利，以利，拉馬撒巴各大尼？』就是說：『我的上帝，我的上帝，你為甚麼撇棄我？』在那裏站着的人有的聽見了就說：『這個人呼叫以利亞呢。』其中有一個人即刻跑去，拿海絨蘸滿了酸酒，綁在葦子上，給他喝；其餘的人卻說：『算了罷，看以利亞來救他不。』耶穌又大聲喊叫，就把靈交放了。忽然殿堂裏的幔子、從上到下、裂為兩段。地震動，磐石裂開；墳墓也開了；長眠着的聖徒的身體、有許多得甦活起來的；在耶穌活起來以後，他們從墳墓裏出來，進了聖城，還顯給許多人看見呢。百夫長和同他看守耶穌的人見地震和所經過的事，就起了極大敬畏的心，說：『真是上帝的兒子啊這個人！』有許多婦女在那裏，從遠處觀看着：她們是從加利利跟着耶穌來服事他的。其中有抹大拉的馬利亞、雅各和約瑟的母親馬利亞，和西庇太倆兒子的母親。
