The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said,“ He saved others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.”

The people stood there watching. The rulers even made fun of Jesus. They said,“ He saved others. Let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.”

And the people stood by, watching, but the rulers scoffed at him, saying,“ He saved others; let him save himself, if he is the Christ of God, his Chosen One!”

The crowd watched and the leaders scoffed.“ He saved others,” they said,“ let him save himself if he is really God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.”

And the people stood by, watching. And even the rulers were sneering at Him, saying,“ He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is the Christ of God, His Chosen One.”

And the people stood looking on. But even the rulers with them sneered, saying,“ He saved others; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ, the chosen of God.”

And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also scoffed at him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if this is the Christ of God, his chosen.

The people stood watching, and even the leaders kept scoffing:“ He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One!”

As you come to him, a living stone— rejected by people but chosen and honored by God—

Here is my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations.

The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, were listening to all these things and scoffing at him.

Do not let my deceitful enemies rejoice over me; do not let those who hate me without cause wink at me maliciously.For they do not speak in friendly ways, but contrive fraudulent schemes against those who live peacefully in the land.They open their mouths wide against me and say,“ Aha, aha! We saw it!”You saw it, LORD; do not be silent. Lord, do not be far from me.Wake up and rise to my defense, to my cause, my God and my Lord!Vindicate me, LORD my God, in keeping with your righteousness, and do not let them rejoice over me.Do not let them say in their hearts,“ Aha! Just what we wanted.” Do not let them say,“ We have swallowed him up!”

For I have endured insults because of you, and shame has covered my face.I have become a stranger to my brothers and a foreigner to my mother’s sonsbecause zeal for your house has consumed me, and the insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.I mourned and fasted, but it brought me insults.I wore sackcloth as my clothing, and I was a joke to them.Those who sit at the city gate talk about me, and drunkards make up songs about me.

They said,“ If you are the Messiah, tell us.” But he said to them,“ If I do tell you, you will not believe.And if I ask you, you will not answer.But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”They all asked,“ Are you, then, the Son of God?” And he said to them,“ You say that I am.”

How long, exalted ones, will my honor be insulted? How long will you love what is worthless and pursue a lie? Selah

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering who knew what sickness was. He was like someone people turned away from; he was despised, and we didn’t value him.

This is what the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, says to one who is despised, to one abhorred by people, to a servant of rulers:“ Kings will see, princes will stand up, and they will all bow down because of the LORD, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel— and he has chosen you.”

Many bulls surround me; strong ones of Bashan encircle me.They open their mouths against me— lions, mauling and roaring.

But when I stumbled, they gathered in glee; they gathered against me. Assailants I did not know tore at me and did not stop.

saying,“ God has abandoned him; chase him and catch him, for there is no one to rescue him.”

And a voice from heaven said,“ This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased.”

“ Then I will pour out a spirit of grace and prayer on the house of David and the residents of Jerusalem, and they will look at me whom they pierced. They will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child and weep bitterly for him as one weeps for a firstborn.

For they persecute the one you struck and talk about the pain of those you wounded.

They said to one another,“ Oh, look, here comes that dream expert!So now, come on, let’s kill him and throw him into one of the pits. We can say that a vicious animal ate him. Then we’ll see what becomes of his dreams!”

Those who passed by were yelling insults at him, shaking their heads, and saying,“ Ha! The one who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days,save yourself by coming down from the cross!”In the same way, the chief priests with the scribes were mocking him among themselves and saying,“ He saved others, but he cannot save himself!Let the Messiah, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see and believe.” Even those who were crucified with him taunted him.

Then two criminals were crucified with him, one on the right and one on the left.Those who passed by were yelling insults at him, shaking their headsand saying,“ You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross!”In the same way the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, mocked him and said,“ He saved others, but he cannot save himself! He is the King of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.He trusts in God; let God rescue him now— if he takes pleasure in him! For he said,‘ I am the Son of God.’”

I am a laughingstock to all my people, mocked by their songs all day long.

But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by mankind and despised by people.Everyone who sees me mocks me; they sneer and shake their heads:“ He relies on the LORD; let him save him; let the LORD rescue him, since he takes pleasure in him.”
