彼拉多有意讨好群众，就释放了巴拉巴给他们，把耶稣鞭打了，交给他们钉十字架。

控告他说：“我们查出这个人煽惑我们的同胞，阻止纳税给凯撒，并且自称是基督，是王。”

现在，你们所拣选、所要求的王在这里。看哪！耶和华已经立了一个王统治你们。

于是彼拉多给他们释放了巴拉巴；他把耶稣鞭打了，就交给他们钉十字架。
