Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them.

They were both righteous in the sight of God, following all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blamelessly.

He sent two of his disciples and told them,“ Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him.Wherever he enters, tell the owner of the house,‘ The Teacher says,“ Where is my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?”’He will show you a large room upstairs, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there.”So the disciples left, went into the city, and found things just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.

While the man was hanging on to Peter and John, all the people, completely astounded, ran together to them in the covered walkway called Solomon’s Portico.

But when the appropriate time had come, God sent out his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,to redeem those who were under the law, so that we may be adopted as sons with full rights.

So Jesus replied to him,“ Let it happen now, for it is right for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John yielded to him.

But Peter and John replied,“ Whether it is right before God to obey you rather than God, you decide,
