Day after day when I was with you in the temple courts, you did not arrest me. But this is your hour, and that of the power of darkness!”

Every day I was with you in the temple courts, and you did not lay a hand on me. But this is your hour— when darkness reigns.”

“ Now my soul is greatly distressed. And what should I say?‘ Father, deliver me from this hour’? No, but for this very reason I have come to this hour.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens.

to open their eyes so that they turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a share among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

I tell you the solemn truth, you will weep and wail, but the world will rejoice; you will be sad, but your sadness will turn into joy.When a woman gives birth, she has distress because her time has come, but when her child is born, she no longer remembers the suffering because of her joy that a human being has been born into the world.So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.

He delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of the Son he loves,

Then Jesus entered the temple area and drove out all those who were selling and buying in the temple courts, and turned over the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those selling doves.And he said to them,“ It is written,‘ My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are turning it into a den of robbers!”The blind and lame came to him in the temple courts, and he healed them.But when the chief priests and the experts in the law saw the wonderful things he did and heard the children crying out in the temple courts,“ Hosanna to the Son of David,” they became indignant

When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they realized that he was speaking about them.They wanted to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowds, because the crowds regarded him as a prophet.

Then some of the residents of Jerusalem began to say,“ Isn’t this the man they are trying to kill?Yet here he is, speaking publicly, and they are saying nothing to him. Do the rulers really know that this man is the Christ?

I will not speak with you much longer, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no power over me,

Now after Jesus entered the temple courts, the chief priests and elders of the people came up to him as he was teaching and said,“ By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?”

But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing,among whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of those who do not believe so they would not see the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God.For we do not proclaim ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves for Jesus’ sake.For God, who said“ Let light shine out of darkness,” is the one who shined in our hearts to give us the light of the glorious knowledge of God in the face of Christ.

So every day Jesus was teaching in the temple courts, but at night he went and stayed on the Mount of Olives.And all the people came to him early in the morning to listen to him in the temple courts.

So that huge dragon– the ancient serpent, the one called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world– was thrown down to the earth, and his angels along with him.Then I heard a loud voice in heaven saying,“ The salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the ruling authority of his Christ, have now come, because the accuser of our brothers and sisters, the one who accuses them day and night before our God, has been thrown down.But they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.Therefore you heavens rejoice, and all who reside in them! But woe to the earth and the sea because the devil has come down to you! He is filled with terrible anger, for he knows that he only has a little time!”

So then they tried to seize Jesus, but no one laid a hand on him, because his time had not yet come.

The Philistines captured him and gouged out his eyes. They brought him down to Gaza and bound him in bronze chains. He became a grinder in the prison.His hair began to grow back after it had been shaved off.The rulers of the Philistines gathered to offer a great sacrifice to Dagon their god and to celebrate. They said,“ Our god has handed Samson, our enemy, over to us.”When the people saw him, they praised their god, saying,“ Our god has handed our enemy over to us, the one who ruined our land and killed so many of us!”When they really started celebrating, they said,“ Call for Samson so he can entertain us!” So they summoned Samson from the prison and he entertained them. They made him stand between two pillars.Samson said to the young man who held his hand,“ Position me so I can touch the pillars that support the temple. Then I can lean on them.”Now the temple was filled with men and women, and all the rulers of the Philistines were there. There were three thousand men and women on the roof watching Samson entertain.Samson called to the LORD,“ O Master, LORD, remember me! Strengthen me just one more time, O God, so I can get swift revenge against the Philistines for my two eyes!”Samson took hold of the two middle pillars that supported the temple and he leaned against them, with his right hand on one and his left hand on the other.Samson said,“ Let me die with the Philistines!” He pushed hard and the temple collapsed on the rulers and all the people in it. He killed many more people in his death than he had killed during his life.

that the elation of the wicked is brief, the joy of the godless lasts but a moment.

Then the officers returned to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them,“ Why didn’t you bring him back with you?”
