Judas, who betrayed him, also knew the place, because Jesus often met there with his disciples. So Judas took a company of soldiers and some officials from the chief priests and the Pharisees and came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons. Then Jesus, knowing everything that was about to happen to him, went out and said to them,“ Who is it that you’re seeking?”“ Jesus of Nazareth,” they answered.“ I am he,” Jesus told them. Judas, who betrayed him, was also standing with them. When Jesus told them,“ I am he,” they stepped back and fell to the ground. Then he asked them again,“ Who is it that you’re seeking?”“ Jesus of Nazareth,” they said.“ I told you I am he,” Jesus replied.“ So if you’re looking for me, let these men go.”This was to fulfill the words he had said:“ I have not lost one of those you have given me.”Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it, struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear.( The servant’s name was Malchus.)At that, Jesus said to Peter,“ Put your sword away! Am I not to drink the cup the Father has given me?”

Then he came a third time and said to them,“ Are you still sleeping and resting? Enough! The time has come. See, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.Get up; let’s go. See, my betrayer is near.”While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, suddenly arrived. With him was a mob, with swords and clubs, from the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders. His betrayer had given them a signal.“ The one I kiss,” he said,“ he’s the one; arrest him and take him away under guard.”So when he came, immediately he went up to Jesus and said,“ Rabbi!” and kissed him. They took hold of him and arrested him.One of those who stood by drew his sword, struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his ear.Jesus said to them,“ Have you come out with swords and clubs, as if I were a criminal, to capture me?Every day I was among you, teaching in the temple, and you didn’t arrest me. But the Scriptures must be fulfilled.”Then they all deserted him and ran away.

Matthew 26:45-56
Then he came to the disciples and said to them,“ Are you still sleeping and resting? See, the time is near. The Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.Get up; let’s go. See, my betrayer is near.”While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, suddenly arrived. A large mob with swords and clubs was with him from the chief priests and elders of the people. His betrayer had given them a sign:“ The one I kiss, he’s the one; arrest him.”So immediately he went up to Jesus and said,“ Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed him.“ Friend,” Jesus asked him,“ why have you come?” Then they came up, took hold of Jesus, and arrested him.At that moment one of those with Jesus reached out his hand and drew his sword. He struck the high priest’s servant and cut off his ear. Then Jesus told him,“ Put your sword back in its place because all who take up the sword will perish by the sword.Or do you think that I cannot call on my Father, and he will provide me here and now with more than twelve legions of angels? How, then, would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen this way?”At that time Jesus said to the crowds,“ Have you come out with swords and clubs, as if I were a criminal, to capture me? Every day I used to sit, teaching in the temple, and you didn’t arrest me.But all this has happened so that the writings of the prophets would be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples deserted him and ran away.

He fell headfirst, his body burst open and his intestines spilled out.
