“ Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”

He said,“ Father, if you are willing, take this cup of suffering away from me. But do what you want, not what I want.”

saying,“ Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”

He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying,“ My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”

“ Now my soul is deeply troubled. Should I pray,‘ Father, save me from this hour’? But this is the very reason I came!Father, bring glory to your name.” Then a voice spoke from heaven, saying,“ I have already brought glory to my name, and I will do so again.”

Then Jesus left them a second time and prayed,“ My Father! If this cup cannot be taken away unless I drink it, your will be done.”

But Jesus answered by saying to them,“ You don’t know what you are asking! Are you able to drink from the bitter cup of suffering I am about to drink?”“ Oh yes,” they replied,“ we are able!”

But Jesus said to Peter,“ Put your sword back into its sheath. Shall I not drink from the cup of suffering the Father has given me?”

“ Abba, Father,” he cried out,“ everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”

I can do nothing on my own. I judge as God tells me. Therefore, my judgment is just, because I carry out the will of the one who sent me, not my own will.

For I have come down from heaven to do the will of God who sent me, not to do my own will.

I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your instructions are written on my heart.”

Then I said,‘ Look, I have come to do your will, O God— as is written about me in the Scriptures.’”First, Christ said,“ You did not want animal sacrifices or sin offerings or burnt offerings or other offerings for sin, nor were you pleased with them”( though they are required by the law of Moses).Then he said,“ Look, I have come to do your will.” He cancels the first covenant in order to put the second into effect.For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time.

This is what the Sovereign Lord, your God and Defender, says:“ See, I have taken the terrible cup from your hands. You will drink no more of my fury.

Then Jesus explained:“ My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work.

Then he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. Then he said,“ Take this and share it among yourselves.For I will not drink wine again until the Kingdom of God has come.”He took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying,“ This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”After supper he took another cup of wine and said,“ This cup is the new covenant between God and his people— an agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you.

So he went to pray a third time, saying the same things again.

Wake up, wake up, O Jerusalem! You have drunk the cup of the Lord’s fury. You have drunk the cup of terror, tipping out its last drops.

This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, said to me:“ Take from my hand this cup filled to the brim with my anger, and make all the nations to whom I send you drink from it.
