“ Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”

He said,“ Father, if you are willing, take this cup of suffering away from me. But do what you want, not what I want.”

saying,“ Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”

“ Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”

“ Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me— nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”

Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed,“ My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

“ Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say?‘ Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour.Father, glorify your name!” Then a voice came from heaven,“ I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.”

He went away a second time and prayed,“ My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.”

“ You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said to them.“ Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?”“ We can,” they answered.

Jesus commanded Peter,“ Put your sword away! Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?”

“ Abba, Father,” he said,“ everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”

By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.

For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.

I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.”

Then I said,‘ Here I am— it is written about me in the scroll— I have come to do your will, my God.’”First he said,“ Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them”— though they were offered in accordance with the law.Then he said,“ Here I am, I have come to do your will.” He sets aside the first to establish the second.And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

This is what your Sovereign Lord says, your God, who defends his people:“ See, I have taken out of your hand the cup that made you stagger; from that cup, the goblet of my wrath, you will never drink again.

“ My food,” said Jesus,“ is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.

After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said,“ Take this and divide it among you.For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying,“ This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying,“ This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.

Awake, awake! Rise up, Jerusalem, you who have drunk from the hand of the Lord the cup of his wrath, you who have drained to its dregs the goblet that makes people stagger.

This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, said to me:“ Take from my hand this cup filled with the wine of my wrath and make all the nations to whom I send you drink it.
