Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Him to them.And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. So he sought how he might conveniently betray Him.

“ I do not speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled,‘ He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.’

Jesus answered,“ It is he to whom I shall give a piece of bread when I have dipped it.” And having dipped the bread, He gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.Now after the piece of bread, Satan entered him. Then Jesus said to him,“ What you do, do quickly.”

Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priestsand said,“ What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?” And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver.So from that time he sought opportunity to betray Him.

This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it.

Now as they sat and ate, Jesus said,“ Assuredly, I say to you, one of you who eats with Me will betray Me.”And they began to be sorrowful, and to say to Him one by one,“ Is it I?” And another said,“ Is it I?”He answered and said to them,“ It is one of the twelve, who dips with Me in the dish.

Jesus answered them,“ Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?”He spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, for it was he who would betray Him, being one of the twelve.

For it is not an enemy who reproaches me; Then I could bear it. Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me; Then I could hide from him.But it was you, a man my equal, My companion and my acquaintance.We took sweet counsel together, And walked to the house of God in the throng.

He answered and said,“ He who dipped his hand with Me in the dish will betray Me.

But behold, the hand of My betrayer is with Me on the table.

Then Jesus said to him,“ Away with you, Satan! For it is written,‘ You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’”
