Then Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went off to the chief priests in order to betray Him to them.They were delighted when they heard this, and promised to give him money. And he began seeking how to betray Him at an opportune time.

I am not speaking about all of you. I know the ones whom I have chosen; but this is happening so that the Scripture may be fulfilled,‘ He who eats My bread has lifted up his heel against Me.’

Jesus then* answered,“ That man is the one for whom I shall dip the piece of bread and give it to him.” So when He had dipped the piece of bread, He* took and* gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot.After this, Satan then entered him. Therefore Jesus* said to him,“ What you are doing, do it quickly.”

But Peter said,“ Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the proceeds of the land?

Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.

Even my close friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me.

Then one of the twelve, named Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priestsand said,“ What are you willing to give me to betray Him to you?” And they set out for him thirty pieces of silver.And from then on he looked for a good opportunity to betray Jesus.

Now he said this, not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief, and as he kept the money box, he used to steal from what was put into it.

And as they were reclining at the table and eating, Jesus said,“ Truly I say to you that one of you will betray Me— one who is eating with Me.”They began to be grieved and to say to Him one by one,“ Surely not I?”But He said to them,“ It is one of the twelve, the one who dips bread with Me in the bowl.

Jesus answered them,“ Did I Myself not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil.”Now He meant Judas the son of Simon Iscariot; for he, one of the twelve, was going to betray Him.

For it is not an enemy who taunts me, Then I could endure it; Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me, Then I could hide myself from him.But it is you, a man my equal, My companion and my confidant;We who had sweet fellowship together, Walked in the house of God among the commotion.

And He answered,“ He who dipped his hand with Me in the bowl is the one who will betray Me.

But behold, the hand of the one betraying Me is with Mine on the table.

Then Jesus* said to him,“ Go away, Satan! For it is written:‘ You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.’ ”
