孰為大、席坐者乎、抑役事者乎、非席坐者乎、然我在爾曹中、如役事者也、

夫坐席者與侍奉者孰大？非坐席者乎？然予在爾中、則如侍奉者也。

For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.

正如人子来，不是要受人的服事，乃是要服事人，并且要舍命，作多人的赎价。”

主人来了，看见仆人警醒，那些仆人就有福了。我实在告诉你们，主人会叫他们坐席，自己束上腰带，前来伺候他们。

反倒虚己，取了奴仆的形像，成为人的样式；既有人的样子，就谦卑自己，存心顺服，以至于死，且死在十字架上。

你们知道我们主耶稣基督的恩典：他本是富足，却为你们成了贫穷，好使你们因他的贫穷而成为富足。

“你们当中谁有仆人耕地或是放羊，从田里回来，就对他说‘你快来坐下吃饭’呢？他岂不对仆人说‘你给我预备晚饭，束上带子伺候我，等我吃喝完了，你才可以吃喝’吗？仆人照所吩咐的去做，主人还谢谢他吗？

随后把水倒在盆里，开始洗门徒的脚，并用束腰的手巾擦干。到了西门‧彼得跟前，彼得对他说：“主啊，你洗我的脚吗？”耶稣回答他说：“我所做的，你现在不知道，但以后会明白。”彼得对他说：“你绝对不可以洗我的脚！”耶稣回答他：“我若不洗你，你就与我无份了。”西门‧彼得对他说：“主啊，不仅是我的脚，连手和头也要洗！”耶稣对他说：“凡洗过澡的人不需要再洗，只要把脚一洗，全身就干净了。你们是干净的，然而不都是干净的。”耶稣已知道要出卖他的是谁，因此说“你们不都是干净的”。耶稣洗完了他们的脚，就穿上衣服，又坐下，对他们说：“我为你们所做的，你们明白吗？你们称呼我老师，称呼我主，你们说的不错，我本来就是。我是你们的主，你们的老师，尚且洗你们的脚，你们也应当彼此洗脚。我给你们作了榜样，为要你们照着我为你们所做的去做。我实实在在地告诉你们，仆人不大于主人；奉差的人也不大于差他的人。
