坐席的或服事的，到底哪一个更大呢？难道不是坐席的吗？然而我在你们中间，是像服事人的。

夫坐席者與侍奉者孰大？非坐席者乎？然予在爾中、則如侍奉者也。

For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.

就像人子来不是为了受人的服事，而是为了服事人，并且献上自己的生命，替许多人做救赎的代价。”

主人回来的时候，看见哪些奴仆警醒着，那些奴仆就蒙福了。我确实地告诉你们：主人会束上腰带，请他们坐席，并来伺候他们。

反而倒空自己，取了奴仆的形像，成为人的样式，以人的形态出现，降卑自己，顺从至死，甚至死在十字架上！

因为你们知道我们主耶稣基督的恩典：他虽然富足，却为你们成了贫穷，好使你们藉着他的贫穷可以成为富足。

“你们当中谁有奴仆耕田或放羊，从田里回来的时候，会对奴仆说‘立刻过来，坐下吃饭’呢？他难道不会对奴仆说‘你预备我所要吃的晚餐，束上腰带伺候我，等我吃喝完了，你才要吃喝’吗？奴仆做了所吩咐的事，难道主人要向奴仆怀有感恩的心吗？

然后把水倒进盆里，开始洗门徒们的脚，又用束在腰上的布巾擦干。他来到西门彼得面前，彼得对他说：“主啊，你洗我的脚吗？”耶稣回答说：“我所做的，你现在不理解，不过事后就会明白。”彼得说：“你绝不可洗我的脚，永远不可！”耶稣说：“如果我不洗你，你就与我没有份了。”西门彼得说：“主啊！不单我的脚，连我的手、我的头也要洗！”耶稣说：“洗过澡的人，除了脚以外，没有需要洗的；他是完全干净的。你们是干净的，但不是每个人都干净。”原来，耶稣知道要出卖他的是谁，所以说“你们不是每个人都干净。”耶稣洗完了他们的脚以后，穿上外衣，又坐下来，对他们说：“你们明白我为你们做的事吗？你们叫我‘老师’，称呼我‘主’。你们说得对，因为我就是那一位。因此，如果我——你们的主、你们的老师，还洗你们的脚，那么你们也应该彼此洗脚。事实上，我给你们做了榜样，好让你们也照着我为你们所做的去做。“我确确实实地告诉你们：没有一个奴仆大过他的主人，也没有一个被派的大过派他的人。
