夫坐席者與侍奉者孰大？非坐席者乎？然予在爾中、則如侍奉者也。

For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.

正如人子不是来受人服侍，而是来服侍人，并且牺牲性命，作许多人的赎价。”

主人回来，看见奴仆警醒等候，奴仆就有福了！我实在告诉你们，主人必束上腰带请他们坐席，并亲自服侍他们。

反而甘愿放下一切，取了奴仆的形象，降生为人的样子。祂以人的样子出现后，就自愿卑微，顺服至死，而且死在十字架上。

因为你们知道我们主耶稣基督的恩典，祂本来富足，却为你们的缘故变得贫穷，使你们借着祂的贫穷可以变得富足。

“你们谁会对种田或放羊回来的奴仆说，‘请赶快坐下来吃饭’？不都是吩咐他‘给我准备晚饭，束上腰带伺候我用餐，等我吃完，你才可以吃’吗？奴仆照着吩咐去做，主人会谢他吗？

然后倒了一盆水为门徒洗脚，用束在腰间的毛巾擦干。轮到西门·彼得的时候，他说：“主啊！你要洗我的脚吗？”耶稣回答说：“我这样做，你现在虽然不明白，将来一定会明白。”彼得说：“你绝对不可以洗我的脚。”耶稣说：“如果我不洗你的脚，你就和我没有关系了。”西门·彼得说：“主啊，不只我的脚，连我的手和头也帮我洗吧。”耶稣说：“洗过澡的人全身是干净的，只要洗洗脚就好了。你们是干净的，但不是每一个都干净。”因为耶稣知道谁要出卖祂，所以说：“你们不是每一个都干净。”耶稣给门徒洗完了脚，便穿上外衣再次坐下来，然后问道：“我为你们做的，你们明白吗？你们称呼我‘老师’，也称呼我‘主’，你们称呼得对，因为我是。我是你们的老师又是你们的主，尚且给你们洗脚，你们更应当彼此洗脚。我给你们立了一个榜样，好让你们效法我。“我实实在在地告诉你们，奴仆不能大过主人，受差遣的也不能大过差遣他的人。
