至於你，錫安哪，因著我與你立約的血，我必把你的被囚者從無水的坑裡釋放出來！

願賜平安的神，就是藉著永恆之約的血，把群羊的大牧人我們的主耶穌從死人中領上來的那一位，

因為這是我的血，是為立約的，為許多人所流的，使罪得赦免。

他也使我們能夠做新約的僕人——不屬於律法條文，而屬於聖靈；因為律法條文帶來死亡，而聖靈卻賜予生命。

事實上，人死了，遺囑才能確立，因為立遺囑之人活著的時候，遺囑絕對不能生效。

來到了耶穌面前——他是新約的中保；來到了所灑的血面前——這血比亞伯的血所述說的更美好。

但如今，耶穌得了更尊貴的服事工作，就像他也是更美好之約的中保那樣；這約建立在各樣更美好的應許之上。原來，如果那第一個約是無可指責的，就沒有尋求第二個約的必要了，因為神指責說：「看哪，時候就要到了！主說，我要與以色列家和猶大家訂立新約。這約不像從前我拉著他們祖先的手，在領他們出埃及地的日子裡與他們所立的約。因為他們沒有持守我的約，我就不理他們——這是主說的。主又說，在那些日子以後，我要與以色列家訂立這樣的約：我要把我的法則放在他們的意念中，刻在他們的心上；我將要做他們的神，他們將要做我的子民。他們絕不需要教導各自的同胞、各自的兄弟，說：『你要認識主』——因為他們所有的人，從卑微的到尊貴的，都將認識我；又因為我要寬恕他們的不義，絕不再想起他們的罪孽。」當神說到「新約」，就已經把第一個當做舊的；而那漸漸變舊、漸漸變老的，很快就要消逝了。

我們所祝謝的福杯，難道不是在基督之血裡的一種契合嗎？我們所掰的餅，難道不是在基督身體裡的一種契合嗎？這是因為餅只有一個，而我們這許多人是一個身體——就是說，我們全都共享這一個餅。你們看世上的以色列人吧，難道那些吃祭物的人不是與祭壇有份的人嗎？那麼，我怎麼說呢？難道說祭過偶像的食物算得了什麼嗎？或說，偶像算得了什麼嗎？不，我是說，外邦人所獻的祭是獻給鬼魔的，不是獻給神的；而我不願意你們成為與鬼魔有份的人。你們不能既喝主的杯，又喝鬼魔的杯；不能既吃主的筵席，又吃鬼魔的筵席。

為此，基督做了新約的中保，藉著死贖清了人在第一個約之下的過犯，好使那些蒙召的人可以得到所應許的永恆繼業。
