愿赐平安的神，就是藉着永恒之约的血，把群羊的大牧人我们的主耶稣从死人中领上来的那一位，

因为这是我的血，是为立约的，为许多人所流的，使罪得赦免。

他也使我们能够做新约的仆人——不属于律法条文，而属于圣灵；因为律法条文带来死亡，而圣灵却赐予生命。

事实上，人死了，遗嘱才能确立，因为立遗嘱之人活着的时候，遗嘱绝对不能生效。

来到了耶稣面前——他是新约的中保；来到了所洒的血面前——这血比亚伯的血所述说的更美好。

但如今，耶稣得了更尊贵的服事工作，就像他也是更美好之约的中保那样；这约建立在各样更美好的应许之上。原来，如果那第一个约是无可指责的，就没有寻求第二个约的必要了，因为神指责说：“看哪，时候就要到了！主说，我要与以色列家和犹大家订立新约。这约不像从前我拉着他们祖先的手，在领他们出埃及地的日子里与他们所立的约。因为他们没有持守我的约，我就不理他们——这是主说的。主又说，在那些日子以后，我要与以色列家订立这样的约：我要把我的法则放在他们的意念中，刻在他们的心上；我将要做他们的神，他们将要做我的子民。他们绝不需要教导各自的同胞、各自的兄弟，说：‘你要认识主’——因为他们所有的人，从卑微的到尊贵的，都将认识我；又因为我要宽恕他们的不义，绝不再想起他们的罪孽。”当神说到“新约”，就已经把第一个当做旧的；而那渐渐变旧、渐渐变老的，很快就要消逝了。

我们所祝谢的福杯，难道不是在基督之血里的一种契合吗？我们所掰的饼，难道不是在基督身体里的一种契合吗？这是因为饼只有一个，而我们这许多人是一个身体——就是说，我们全都共享这一个饼。你们看世上的以色列人吧，难道那些吃祭物的人不是与祭坛有份的人吗？那么，我怎么说呢？难道说祭过偶像的食物算得了什么吗？或说，偶像算得了什么吗？不，我是说，外邦人所献的祭是献给鬼魔的，不是献给神的；而我不愿意你们成为与鬼魔有份的人。你们不能既喝主的杯，又喝鬼魔的杯；不能既吃主的筵席，又吃鬼魔的筵席。

为此，基督做了新约的中保，藉着死赎清了人在第一个约之下的过犯，好使那些蒙召的人可以得到所应许的永恒继业。
