“所以你们要警醒，因为你们不知道那日子和那时刻。

耶稣对他们讲了一个比喻，说他们必须常常祷告，不要丧胆。

那位独一的神能够保守你们不失足，并且使你们毫无瑕疵、怀着喜乐站在他的荣耀面前；

万物的结局临近了，所以你们为了祷告的缘故应当清醒、谨慎。

主人回来的时候，看见哪些奴仆警醒着，那些奴仆就蒙福了。我确实地告诉你们：主人会束上腰带，请他们坐席，并来伺候他们。即使主人在二更天或在三更天才回来，也看见他们仍然警醒着，那些人就蒙福了。不过你们应当知道这一点：一家的主人如果知道贼什么时候来，就不会让他的房子被人钻进。你们也应当做好准备，因为在你们意想不到的时候，人子就来了。”

为此，要拿起神的全副武装，好使你们在邪恶的日子能够抵挡，并且在完成一切以后，还站立得住。所以，你们要站立得住：用真理束上腰，穿上公义的护胸甲；

不住地祷告，

这正是神公义审判的证据，好使你们算是配得上神的国；你们也正是为此而受苦害的。神既然真是公义的，当主耶稣与他有大能的天使们一起从天上显现的时候，他就要以患难回报那些加患难给你们的人，

不过他来的日子，谁能承受得起呢？他显现的时候，谁能站立得住呢？因为他像炼金之人的火，又像漂布之人的碱。

你们要以各样的祷告和祈求，藉着圣灵时刻祈祷；而且为此警醒，以极大的忍耐，为所有圣徒祈求，也为我祈求，好使我在开口的时候被赐予话语，能坦然无惧地让人明白福音的奥秘——

他是个敬虔的人，与全家都敬畏神；他慷慨地周济民众，常常向神祷告。

你们要恒切祷告，祷告中要保持警醒，怀着感谢的心。

至于你，要在一切事上谨慎，忍受苦难，做传福音者的工作，完成你的服事。

因此，在审判的时候，恶人将站立不住；在义人的会众里，罪人也是如此。

但那些算是配得上承受那世代，又配得上从死人中复活的人，既不娶也不嫁。
