“那些日子的灾难刚过去：太阳就变黑了，月亮也不发光，众星从天坠落，天上的万象震动。

你的儿女必被交给别国的民，你必亲眼看见，日日为他们焦虑；你必无能为力。你土地的出产和你劳碌得来的一切，都必被你不认识的民族吃尽；你必常常受压迫和压制；你因亲眼看见的，必要疯狂。

众星从天坠落，天上的万象震动。

如果我们领受了真理的知识以后，还是故意犯罪，就再没有留下赎罪的祭品了；只好恐惧地等待着审判，和那快要吞灭众仇敌的烈火。

但主的日子必要像贼一样来到。在那日，天必轰然一声地消失，所有元素都因烈火而融化；地和地上所有的，都要被烧毁（“被烧毁”有不少古抄本作“被发现”）。这一切既然都要这样融化，你们应当怎样为人，过着圣洁和敬虔的生活，等候并催促神的日子降临呢？因为在那日，天要被火焚烧就融化了，所有元素都因烈火而融解！
