Indeed, the stars of the sky and its constellations will not give their light. The sun will be dark when it rises, and the moon will not shine.

I will display wonders in the heavens and on the earth: blood, fire, and columns of smoke.The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the great and terrible day of the LORD comes.

At that time Michael, the great prince who stands watch over your people, will rise up. There will be a time of distress such as never has occurred since nations came into being until that time. But at that time all your people who are found written in the book will escape.

“‘ When I snuff you out, I will cover the heavens and darken their stars. I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon will not give its light.I will darken all the shining lights in the heavens over you, and will bring darkness on your land. This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.

Then I saw him open the sixth seal. A violent earthquake occurred; the sun turned black like sackcloth made of hair; the entire moon became like blood;the stars of heaven fell to the earth as a fig tree drops its unripe figs when shaken by a high wind;the sky was split apart like a scroll being rolled up; and every mountain and island was moved from its place.

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief; on that day the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, the elements will burn and be dissolved, and the earth and the works on it will be disclosed.Since all these things are to be dissolved in this way, it is clear what sort of people you should be in holy conduct and godlinessas you wait for the day of God and hasten its coming. Because of that day, the heavens will be dissolved with fire and the elements will melt with heat.

The moon will be put to shame and the sun disgraced, because the LORD of Armies will reign as king on Mount Zion in Jerusalem, and he will display his glory in the presence of his elders.

For I am the LORD your God who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar— his name is the LORD of Armies.

Then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory.

Therefore I will make the heavens tremble, and the earth will shake from its foundations at the wrath of the LORD of Armies, on the day of his burning anger.Like wandering gazelles and like sheep without a shepherd, each one will turn to his own people, each one will flee to his own land.

Then I saw a great white throne and one seated on it. Earth and heaven fled from his presence, and no place was found for them.

“ But in those days, after that tribulation: The sun will be darkened, and the moon will not shed its light;

I will display wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below: blood and fire and a cloud of smoke.

When it was noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon.

And in that day— this is the declaration of the Lord GOD— I will make the sun go down at noon; I will darken the land in the daytime.I will turn your feasts into mourning and all your songs into lamentation; I will cause everyone to wear sackcloth and every head to be shaved. I will make that grief like mourning for an only son and its outcome like a bitter day.

Therefore I said,“ Look away from me! Let me weep bitterly! Do not try to comfort me about the destruction of my dear people.”For the Lord GOD of Armies had a day of tumult, trampling, and confusion in the Valley of Vision— people shouting and crying to the mountains;

The floods have lifted up, LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their pounding waves.Greater than the roar of a huge torrent— the mighty breakers of the sea— the LORD on high is majestic.

though its water roars and foams and the mountains quake with its turmoil. Selah

On that day they will roar over it, like the roaring of the sea. When one looks at the land, there will be darkness and distress; light will be obscured by clouds.

“ Immediately after the distress of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not shed its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

From noon until three in the afternoon, darkness came over the whole land.

I looked at the earth, and it was formless and empty. I looked to the heavens, and their light was gone.

The best of them is like a brier; the most upright is worse than a hedge of thorns. The day of your watchmen, the day of your punishment, is coming; at this time their panic is here.
