若輩乃互議曰：『如謂自天、彼將曰胡不信之；

他们彼此商议说：“我们若说‘从天上来’，他必说：‘你们为什么不信他呢？’

他们彼此商量说：“我们若说‘从天上来的’，他会说‘这样，你们为什么不信他呢？’

他们彼此议论说：“如果我们说‘是从天上来的’，祂一定会问，‘那你们为什么不相信他？’

他们就彼此议论说：“如果我们说：‘是从天上来的’，他就会问：‘那你们为什么不相信他呢？’

他们就彼此商量，说：“如果我们说‘是来自天上’，他就会问‘你们为什么不相信他呢？’

他們彼此商議說：「我們若說『從天上來』，他必說：『你們為甚麼不信他呢？』

他們彼此商量說：「我們若說『從天上來的』，他會說『這樣，你們為甚麼不信他呢？』

他們彼此商量說：「我們若說『從天上來的』，他會說『這樣，你們為甚麼不信他呢？』

他們彼此議論說：「如果我們說『是從天上來的』，祂一定會問，『那你們為什麼不相信他？』

他們就彼此議論說：“如果我們說：‘是從天上來的’，他就會問：‘那你們為甚麼不相信他呢？’

他們就彼此商議說：『我們若說「由於天」，他就會說你們為甚麼不信他？

他們就彼此商量，說：「如果我們說『是來自天上』，他就會問『你們為什麼不相信他呢？』

其人竊議曰、若云自天、彼必曰、曷不信之、

其人竊議曰、若云由天、彼必曰、曷不信之、

其人竊議曰、若云自天、彼必曰、然則何不信之、

They discussed it among themselves and said,“ If we say,‘ From heaven,’ he will ask,‘ Why didn’t you believe him?’

They talked to one another about it. They said,“ If we say,‘ From heaven,’ he will ask,‘ Why didn’t you believe him?’

And they discussed it with one another, saying,“ If we say,‘ From heaven,’ he will say,‘ Why did you not believe him?’

They talked it over among themselves.“ If we say it was from heaven, he will ask why we didn’t believe John.

They discussed it among themselves:“ If we say,‘ From heaven,’ he will say,‘ Why didn’t you believe him?’

They discussed among themselves, saying,“ If we say,‘ From heaven,’ He will say,‘ Why did you not believe him?’

And they reasoned among themselves, saying,“ If we say,‘ From heaven,’ He will say,‘ Why then did you not believe him?’

And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why did ye not believe him?

They discussed it among themselves:“ If we say,‘ From heaven,’ He will say,‘ Why didn’t you believe him?’

And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not?

So they discussed it with one another, saying,“ If we say,‘ From heaven,’ he will say,‘ Why did you not believe him?’

They reasoned with themselves, saying,“ If we say,‘ From heaven,’ he will say,‘ Why didn’t you believe him?’

信仰聖子者、獲永生；不順聖子者、無以望生、天主譴怒、恆臨其身。』

予既見之、爰證其為天主之聖子。』

因共謁如望曰：『夫子曩在約但河外、所為作證者、今亦授洗、人盡趨之。』

如望揚聲為之作證曰：『予向所言：「有一後我而來、居我之上、原在我先」者、即斯人矣！』吾儕承蒙恩上加恩、莫不飽沾其無窮之蘊。蓋摩西所授者律法耳、至妙寵真諦、則由耶穌基督而溥施。人未有見天主者、惟聖父懷中之惟一聖子、實已表而出之矣。

爾等亦曾遣使者謁如望、而彼已為真理作證矣。雖然予不取證於人予之語此欲爾曹蒙救恩耳。如望乃輝煌之明燈、爾等亦曾瞻仰其光、而極一時之樂矣。

迨其使命將畢、如望恆曰：「爾等以吾為誰？實非基督；惟有後我來者、吾雖為之解履、猶愧未稱、」

予嘗云後我而至、先我而成者、即斯人矣！
