Then Jesus said to them,“ Why is it said that the Messiah is the son of David?

So Jesus asked this question as He taught in the temple complex,“ How can the scribes say that the Messiah is the Son of David?David himself says by the Holy Spirit: The Lord declared to my Lord,‘ Sit at My right hand until I put Your enemies under Your feet.’David himself calls Him‘ Lord’; how then can the Messiah be his Son?” And the large crowd was listening to Him with delight.

concerning His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who was a descendant of David according to the fleshand who has been declared to be the powerful Son of God by the resurrection from the dead according to the Spirit of holiness.

Doesn’t the Scripture say that the Messiah comes from David’s offspring and from the town of Bethlehem, where David once lived?”

So he called out,“ Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”Then those in front told him to keep quiet, but he kept crying out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

In those days and at that time I will cause a Righteous Branch to sprout up for David, and He will administer justice and righteousness in the land.In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell securely, and this is what she will be named: Yahweh Our Righteousness.

Since he was a prophet, he knew that God had sworn an oath to him to seat one of his descendants on his throne.

“ The days are coming”— this is the Lord’s declaration—“ when I will raise up a Righteous Branch of David. He will reign wisely as king and administer justice and righteousness in the land.In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. This is what He will be named: Yahweh Our Righteousness.

While the Pharisees were together, Jesus questioned them,“ What do you think about the Messiah? Whose Son is He?”“ David’s,” they told Him.He asked them,“ How is it then that David, inspired by the Spirit, calls Him‘ Lord’:The Lord declared to my Lord,‘ Sit at My right hand until I put Your enemies under Your feet’?“ If David calls Him‘ Lord,’ how then can the Messiah be his Son?”

For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on His shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.The dominion will be vast, and its prosperity will never end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and sustain it with justice and righteousness from now on and forever. The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will accomplish this.

“ I, Jesus, have sent My angel to attest these things to you for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright Morning Star.”

then also My covenant with My servant David may be broken so that he will not have a son reigning on his throne, and the Levitical priests will not be My ministers.
